Cupcakes

I've always wanted to learn how to bake cakes...or perhaps cupcakes which I think much more easier? I have an oven at home but its barely used since we bought it (5 years ago)..I could recall, I had roasted chicken twice I guess...vanilla, chocolate, orange cakes which did not turn out right...most ended up in the bin.. Will try to make an effort lah this year...look see, look see in the newspaper for Baking classes..at least we can have our cupcakes at anytime at home just like these;

I love the taste and colours..we had these more than a week ago and at least each person had like 4 cupcakes and a cup of coffee to go with it..I ordered 50 so enough for everyone..Thanks so much Aines..I will definetly order from you again till I know how to make them..(which I'm also not sure bila lah tu.. :-) )

Constant craving..

I'm feeling a little hungry at this moment, again am thinking of sweet things to eat like cakes, jellies, ABC, Ice-cream hmm... While browsing through the internet this morning, I saw this pix in one of my folders, it was taken before new year at my cousin's 21st birthday. Looking at it makes my tummy growling even louder hahaha....
This is a 2kg mango yoghurt's cake. The cake was supper delicious and as good as it looks too ;-)
aahhmm....I lost 1 - 2 kg recently( banyak kerja rumah bah) so I think it shouldn't be a problem for a slice of cake hehehe..
Ok I've made up my mind, am going this evening for a lip smacking piece of cake..

What's for dinner?

Yesterday evening after work, hubby and I had a 'Yummy' dinner at Lintas Square area. The kids of course had their dinner with the grands and Isaac at the nanny's place. So why not eat outside somemore it will save us time to cook at home. I had rice for lunch, so I decided noodles for the night. We ordered 'pan mein' at this shop 'Siang-Siang Pan Mein', sort of flat flour noodles soup with its ingredients, deep fried achovies, diced fried chicken meat, dried black fungus with some leafy vegetables. Slurrrpp ! :-) Add a dash of sesame oil, shallots crisps and chopped chilli padi, I had it really clean haha..

How to raise a happy child

Like any parents, I want the best for my children. My hubby and I has done almost everything for our Ruth, Cynthia and Isaac. Making sure they are healthy, spending valuable time with them, happy and are loved unconditionally. Most parents wanted to know whether their kids are happy and how to develop a child self confidence and ensuring they are happy most of the time.
Some child psychologist said, happiness is not something that you can give to a child like presents but to develop a set of inner tools which they can rely on throughout their life.
The signs of a happy child:- always smiles, plays, exhibits, curiosity, shows interest in other children, doesn't need constant stimulation. These are among the points made by child experts which suggest parents to learn read the signs.
But there are times hubby and I become upset when our kids start throwing tantrums and also not eating well. Lil' Isaac eating habits are much better than his sisters, at least he is not in our lists of worries :-) I'm finding some ways now how to make a child eats better, some people says we have to put some creativity in preparing their meals, any suggestions? But anyways, I hope their poor eating habit is not link to any stress symptoms.
Few more suggestions from child experts on raising a happy child.
1) Make room for fun. I think this is one important point especially like us, working parents to spend enough time with our kids like playing together with their favourite toys, board games, watching cartoons and good movie together or simply read books with them. On weekends, we spend time with our kids like going to the mall, buy groceries, eating out or watch some Disney movies together.
2) Help them develop their talents. Well, this year hubby and I noticed our girls develop their interest in drawings. Drawings expressed their inner feelings and sometimes they drew us(daddy and mummy) in their drawings. There are times lots of heart shapes for mummy and daddy and there are times more X X X when they get angry with us hehehe... It's one way to know my kids feeling.
3) Teach them to do meaningful things. (I would like to know your suggestions on this)
4) Be their role model.

What is your combination?

I was on my way home fetching hubby, time was almost 5.15pm. Cruising along the Likas highway and tuning to the Lite FM, the channel which I love so much even though some friends of mine said is rather boring especially with their selections of songs..but not me..haha...coz they play my music of the 80's YES!!
Ok, the DJ was mentioning something of a combinations of fruits and vegetables (sort of future new fruits+veggie) for example: Tomato and oranges as in ='Toranges' though sounds weird to me. So a caller was saying, spinach + apple = spinapple could be her favourites...but what a yucks to me! outer red skin and green innerside. Strawberry and carrots = berycarr..which sounds ok to me :-) and I can have the Vit C and A which is good for my skin lah..
Tell me, whats your combination... ;-) who knows we'll be eating this combination in the future
(got scientist mah...) ;-)

Good home cooked meal!

What's your fav home cooked meal?
I love to cook if I'm in a mood to cook haha...well ya, I can cook a few dishes which my mum ever taught me ie: Curries, chicken with rice wine (love this so much..), stir-fry beef with ginger and alot more lah..
But we as a society have forgotten what real food looks and tastes like. However, I believe this to be a symptom of a deeper problem: Namely, we have forgotten that a real meal involves fellowship with other people. This is not surprising in our culture of fast food and TV dinners, where convenience has replaced community as the apotheosis of the culinary. Real food means real meals, and real meals mean real fellowship, especially when it comes to family life. Nothing brings together friends and family like a delicious home-cooked meal!

Local cakes so delicious

A tray of mouth watering local cakes. Can you see kuih bingka ubi, kuih lapis, wajit and seri muka..looks really yummy ya! These local cakes are best serve with a cup of hot coffee or tea for breakfast and late afternoon break.
I took this yummy cakes pix during a birthday luncheon at the Chief Minister's office. There were others but this one attracts me. Very colourful isn't it
I'm not good in doing cakes, yeah I failed my Sains Rumahtangga hehe...so if I wanna have some I just go to any shops selling these 'kuih'.

Piece of cake?

Home cooking or else 'tapau'

Every evening after fetching my daughter Cynthia from her school, I will surely go 'tapau' dinner for the two of us. Kesian kan, but I have no time, the time we reach home is nearly at 6pm and I have to boil water for Cynthia's bath, take dry clothes from the lines, etc..etc..then rush to fetch our little Isaac from his nanny apartment.

How I wish, upon reaching home, dinner ready to serve, house is clean with all the kampung dishes that I love to eat :-) . My hubby kept reminding me to reduce meat consumption for health reason, well yeah...I don't really take meat that lot as I still prefer fish but maybe at times he(hubby) might have seen me taking meat from breakfast to dinner..hehehe..(not always la)

So, I read in the paper few days ago about food in Sabah. It says, maybe nowhere in Asia you can find so much food variety, at quality than in Sabah's capital, Kota Kinabalu. How fortunate Sabahan is, fresh seafood, fresh vegetable and fruits all year round. All in affordable prices, so I hope the 'tapau' food that i ate most of the time, is fresh and good enough for us to supply daily nutrients to our body la...not everyday 'tapau' ya, coz last nite I manage to cook one dish, Cynthia's favourite that is, Mackerel (sardines) with onions and tomato ketchup, it was yummy for the two of us :-)
